When it comes to a great past time, hobby, family fun event, or friendly competition there is nothing like Bowling. I was first introduced to bowling when I was a little kid about 4 years old. My mom was part of a bowling league and I would go with her to the Irving Triangle for games. It was a good time that I will always remember, although my activities at the bowling alley were running around, playing video games, and eating Tator Tots. However, bowling was not on that list then.

As I grew up bowling still wasn’t a game of choice. It was soccer, football, and skateboarding. But then as I grew up we began to bowl a bit, but it wasn’t until I went to college that bowling really took off in my life. It is and was one of the most fun escapes away from everything and hanging out with good friends and beating them down in bowling. (Quick note: if you like to bowl and go every now and then, PLEASE buy your own shoes, it’s one of the best investments you’ll make.) Let me tell you how my technique began.

How it started
I began bowling with a backspin on the ball when I had all fingers in the ball, but I really didn’t like it. The ball seemed to go slow and it didn’t look cool…LOL…if that really matters, but it did to me. So to fix this I figured that if I take my thumb out of the ball I could put a curve on the ball that was rather cool, effective, and results in great pin action. If you know anything about bowling, pin action is the answer to strikes, and using a curve in your technique is a great way to achieve this. However, it’s easier said than done and believe me it took a long time to get that curve to where it is now. I had to start with a lighter ball to get the feel of the proper release, and then later I was able to raise the weight to cause more damage on the pins giving more chances for a strike or spare.

Using this style makes bowling either more fun or very frustrating and it’s always due to the amount of wax on the lane. This can cause your ball to curve too much or not enough at all. And that problem is even more magnified by using a house ball (bowling alley’s ball) that you really have no idea what it’s going to do. Which led me to buying my own ball. If you have you’re own ball it gives you a greater advantage due to the custom fitting, your specific weight, your style of ball, and with all of these things it will increase your confidence. More confidence equates into making stronger more precise throws in clutch situations. My first ball is the Venom created by Hammer. There are numerous brands and quite a few styles. I’ll have to tell you about the specifics of balls in another blog. My spare ball is a White Dot by Columbia. Spare ball meaning the ball to use to pick up spares and not my spare ball incase my other ball is not working good that night. But I’m sure you knew that.

The Venom is a ball with allot of back end bite, meaning that as it spins down the wax it will keep going straight until it gets down the lane and then right when you think it will keep going straight it makes a violent turn in the direction of your spin and just attacks the pins causing an explosion of pins in all directions. I’ve yet to beat my highest score with this new ball, but the new ball and it’s new trajectory have to be dialed in correctly first. I’ve bowled a 202 with it, but that doesn’t beat my most recent high score of 232 in Las Vegas. I’m trying to remember my other high score which I believe was xxx at Strikez in Plano, but I can’t remember, however I have a print out at my girl’s house and I will clarify.

I will keep some updates of my coming games to keep track of my growth in the game. I’m already the champ as far as the Jackson Cup goes. I’ve been the defending champ for over a year now, but there hasn’t been a title match in a long time. Maybe it’s time to have one. Stay tuned for those new scores.

I’ll make sure the site is 100% complete before I add my massive GTA4 review with style. The weekend, rain, and GTA4 == Game Time.

Well, with the way the weather is looking in Dallas, TX. Your options should be endless. I’ll be taking a tour of the Metroplex today driving from Addison, to Irving, to Bedford, to Arlington, and back to Bedford. Have to help my mom with the Annual Garage Sale in Bedford, TX. It’s the one weekend out of the year you can have a Garage Sale…Harsh. OH, then off to Oklahoma City to celebrate my girlfriend’s father’s Bday! Which I’m sure will include a trip to the CASINO…Good Times!!!

I know that I own more than 2 Domain Names and I need to take advantage of them and not try to twiddle down what this site will be about. I didn’t want it to get too personal on the blogs but hey it’s my site where else can I do that. So Enigma13.net and vjxdesign.com will have to pick up my writing over spills.

It wasn’t a good day, but if you knew my mom you would know that that wouldn’t slow her down or break her spirit. She kept fighting and knew it would work out. I’m so excited I have to jump to the point. My cousins wife volunteered to donate a kidney to my mother. Now this is easier said that done. There are many tests that they have to do and it takes a while. Well…they are a perfect match and I can’t keep my heart from smiling!!! God is Good!

The girl singing is Chelsea Williams and she was performing a solo sidewalk show when she was “given” the assistance and interpretive dance of “the man” on the street. His bike is there behind him with allot of animals, umbrellas, and brick-a-brack in it. Enjoy John!

Last weekend my girlfriend and I took a trip to Hollywood, CA to just get away from Dallas, TX for a while. I was also able to catch up with some of my good friends that live out there. We took in some sites and visited some awesome restaurants, lounges, clubs, dives, and eateries. I’ll post about those on their own. This post is about what we witnessed while visiting the Santa Monica 3rd St. Promenade.

We were eating at Rocket Burger or something like that, and we were luckily seated at a front table right by the window. As we were eating I noticed a bit of disturbance outside and allot of people looking in awe in a certain direction. Me and my girlfriend are eating and I happened to have my video camera sitting on the table. I looked out the window looked at her, and I guess by the look on my face she was like…Go out there! So I grabbed the camera and start filming. This is what I got:

[See post to watch Flash video]

I had never seen anything like this before on video or in person, but after it happened and I was telling some friends about it I google’d it and came across Improv Everywhere. These guys have all types of missions that they’ve done and the main group is in New York, but the one I witnessed was by another group in LA the GeruilLA. I may have to start a Dallas group if there’s not one already. Oh and G4TV was out there filming which I noticed them before the whole thing went down. Either way watch the video and enjoy.

I hope my buddy doesn’t get upset that I’ve posted it so soon, but hey…it’s pub for him. His name is Tramaine, and he is one of the best Motion Graphics designers I’ve seen. He has an awesome style and I’m currently building his website which will be coming very soon. As soon as it is done I will add his link to this post. Until then check out this simple…well it surely wasn’t simple, but this entertaining video. I’ll have to ask him again how he made it. Partially hand animated, but part of it was from the actual audio spectrum to help keep track of the animations. More complicated on the motion graphics front than I care to get into at 3:11am. I’ll go into more detail later when I add his information. Enjoy!!!

Cleaning up is a chore I’m sure that most people don’t enjoy doing, and I’m definitely one of them. However, you can make cleaning up fun if you make it a game or an adventure of types. I found the inspiration to make my cleaning up more fun, and that was by making a time lapse video of the affair. It was easy to do and ended with pretty awesome results. I used iStop Motion which is a mac program of course that I received in the MacHeist Bundle. It’s a program that can be used to make stop frame animations and time lapse videos. All you have to do is connect your video camera or acceptable digital camera to your computer and away you go. Well, after filling in the correct parameters you want. Simply put, how many seconds between each frame being captured. This video that I made was 1 frame every 2sec. I must note that this is the first time my video camera EVER filmed this vantage point. That being said check it out and enjoy.
